  • Communications, including emails, text messages, telephone communications, feedback, and other correspondence with us.
  • Marketing preferences and consent records, including whether and when you consented to receive email or text messages and records of opt-out requests.

Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information, including:

  • IP address and approximate location derived from it;
  • browser type, device type, operating system, and device identifiers;
  • pages viewed, links clicked, referring page, visit dates and times, and interactions with the Site;
  • cookie identifiers and similar online activity information; and
  • diagnostic, security, performance, and error information.

We do not use the Site’s general forms to request Social Security numbers, bank-account credentials, credit-card information, or detailed personal financial records. Please do not submit sensitive financial or other confidential information through a general form or ordinary email unless we specifically request it through an appropriate secure method.

2. How We Collect Information

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you when you submit a form, request a download, schedule a conversation, communicate with us, or consent to marketing;
  • automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use the Site; and
  • from service providers that support the Site, scheduling, communications, analytics, security, and resource delivery.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
  • provide resources or information you request;
  • respond to inquiries and schedule or conduct conversations;
  • communicate about our books, articles, speaking, educational resources, consulting, training, and related offerings;
  • send marketing communications when permitted by law and consistent with your choices;

  • detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents, and unlawful activity;
  • maintain appropriate business and consent records;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, web beacons, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, understand Site usage, measure communications and campaigns, improve performance, and support advertising.

Browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking some cookies may affect Site functionality. Where required by law, we will provide additional choices regarding nonessential cookies. We will also honor legally recognized browser-based opt-out signals, such as Global Privacy Control, where required by applicable law and where we can reasonably detect the signal.

5. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers that perform services for us, such as website and data hosting, customer-relationship management, form processing, scheduling, email and text-message delivery, analytics, security, and resource delivery.
  • Professional advisors, such as attorneys, accountants, insurers, and other advisors, when reasonably necessary.
  • Government authorities or other parties when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law or legal process; protect rights, safety, or property; investigate fraud or misuse; or enforce our agreements.
  • A successor or transaction participant in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, acquisition, bankruptcy, or similar business transaction.
  • Other parties at your direction or with your consent.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some privacy laws define “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” broadly enough to include certain disclosures of identifiers or online activity to advertising and analytics providers. To the extent we engage in activity covered by those definitions, you may request to opt out as described in Section 10.

We do not disclose mobile opt-in data or consent information to third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We may provide that information to vendors that help us deliver messages, but only as necessary to perform services for us and subject to appropriate restrictions.

6. Email and Text-Message Choices

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting us. Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we may send nonmarketing communications concerning a request, scheduled conversation, or existing relationship.

We will send marketing text messages only after obtaining the consent required by applicable law. If you opt in, message frequency may vary and message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any product or service. Reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help, or contact us using the information below. We may send nonmarketing texts when reasonably necessary to respond to you or manage an appointment you requested.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing requested resources, maintaining business and consent records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, meeting legal obligations, and protecting the Site. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, our relationship with you, and legal or operational requirements.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you reside and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • request access to or a copy of personal information we maintain about you;
  • request correction or deletion of personal information;
  • opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling;
  • limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • appeal our denial of a privacy-rights request.

To submit a request, email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request” or contact us using the information below. Describe your request and the state or country where you reside. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may use an authorized agent where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. If we deny a request, residents of jurisdictions providing an appeal right may appeal by replying to our decision and stating that they wish to appeal.

California Notice

California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, if and to the extent it applies to us. The categories of personal information we may collect are described in Section 1; the sources are described in Section 2; the purposes are described in Section 3; and the categories of recipients are described in Section 5.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit under California law.

California’s “Shine the Light” law may also permit residents to request certain information regarding disclosure of personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes. You may submit such a request using the contact information below.

11. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Site may contain links to or integrations with third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review those policies before providing personal information.
